Healthcare Billing and Coding offered at BCCC


The Division of Continuing Education at Beaufort County Community College will offer a course in Healthcare Billing and Coding as part of BCCC’s JobsNOW short-term job training program.
This two-part course will give students the skills needed to work in the health care field coding charges for services received and preparing bills in hospitals, doctors’ offices or other health care setting.
The course consists of 360 hours of instruction in medical billing and coding and Human Resources Development and Career Readiness Certification Training.
The first part of the course will be offered 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. Tuesdays and Thursdays, plus four Saturdays to be determined by the members of the class, beginning May 4 and ending August 17 in a location to be determined on the BCCC campus and 6 to 9 p.m. Mondays and Thursdays beginning May 6 and ending June 28 in Room 822 of Building 8 on the BCCC campus.
The second part of the course will begin after August 17 on dates to be announced by the college.
The registration for each of the two courses is $175 for a total registration fee for the complete training program of $350. The cost of books is $368.50. A $30 fee for the CRC test will be charged during the second course.
Pre-registration is required.
The class is one of several made possible at BCCC by a $200,000 JobsNOW grant specifically designed to provide short-term training in six months or less for jobless workers and get them back in the workforce with a good-paying job.
Each student completing a JobsNow program, depending on their initial assessment, will have the opportunity to earn at least the bronze level of the Career Readiness Certificate, an assessment-based credential that gives employers and career seekers a uniform measure of key workplace skills.
Each student will also receive a continuing education certificate for successful completion of each class.
This JobsNOW initiative is made possible through the American Recovery and Reinvestment Act, the N.C. Department of Commerce, the Division of Workforce Development and the local Workforce Development Board.
